Texture/ Value/ Illusion of Space

I happened to find this beautiful picture from TheHindiMusic.com. and this was created by Jyothi Krishna.
Looking at this picture I almost feel like it pulls me into this flower field. There are many visual effects are used such as contrast, value, volume, space, and lighting to create a illusion of space. This little girl, the flowers and a couple of the flower cans in the front are in a bright spot. They look very crisp and clear and they pop out to the front. On the other hand, the background is dark, blurry with cloudy sky, which creates the far distance to the back.
I also like the color theme (purple, white and silver) and the composition of upper half and bottom half are very well balanced.

  1. I like the way that the designers used color and balance in this piece. The continuity of the color scheme unifies both the foreground and the background. The brightness of the flowers in the foreground and the presence of the little girl with the watering can first give the viewer the impression of a happy image, but as the viewer continues to explore the scene, the darker colors in the background and the asymmetrical balance make it seem rather ominous.

  2. Well, this is an interesting piece. As a gardener, I'm hoping for spring rains to do this watering job. I look at that many watering cans and almost stop breathing. LOL!! Ok. Seriously now, the perspective of the hanging cans and flowers gives this picture great depth. I think this is a nice look for all of us "Spring Starved Souls" out there. Even though white is usually a hard color this picture does a wonderful job of making is soft with that soft focus on almost everything. I love the subtle color pallet of gray, white, purple and green. This also works to keep it soft and gentle, like a spring rain. There is a lot of emotion in this picture that would go very well with the type of music from the site. I think it fits very well.

  3. This is an amazing piece and I agree with your analysis - so many visual effects were used. It has so much depth that I feel that I could walk right into the composition - the clouds and watering cans seem to go on into infinity. The vertical lines (rope or wires) suspending the watering cans against the clouds is such a contrast with the softness of the grass and flowers in the foreground. The flowers do pop against the darker value of green used for the grass.

  4. I love the visual depth in this image. The watering cans hanging from the sky and fading into the background makes the image memorable. I also like how they frame the little girl watering a whole field of flowers. This image is funny to me.

  5. The depth this image creates really draws you in and takes you through it. The various values of the clouds and watering cans works very well together and create an interesting image. There is a lot going on in this image almost too much but i think it got it just right with how much is going on and keeping it interesting.

  6. The first thing that i notice was the distribution of value from front to back. For example, the light and sunny colors are in the very front of the picture. Seems that the sun is just hitting the front of the image, but as you keep on looking towards the back of the image, a darker color appearance(value),creating depth between what it was a good day, and what might happen soon(storm).
